The way most people build websites is about to completely change!

The most used page builder, Elementor, and the most used block package, Spectra, will be all based on a new layout system.

If you want to create fast loading websites, that are incredibly lightweight, yet without sacrificing anything, this is great news for you!

The old way of sections, rows, columns is about to be gone. Say hello to Flexbox Containers.

Flex stands for flexible, adaptive.

The 3 main benefits to you are

– Reduced DOM size
– Better responsive control

But in just a short time, the most used page builder, Elementor and the most used blocks package, Spectra will be all based on containers.

  1. Thanks Adam, but what difference does it make adding child containers for each 'column' rather than one container? I just tried both ways out and can't see any difference in the inspector

  2. Can you please help? I am not a coder or any type of techie. However, I have built a few websites using Astra Pro and their Ultimate Addons with Elementor Pro. I would like to update the existing sites and I am in the process of building a new site. Can you please tell me if I should stick with the tech stack I have and learn how to use the flexbox, or start from scratch with another tech stack like the Kadence theme and Kadence blocks? If so would the free version suffice or would I need their pro versions?

  3. Thanks for this easy to understand video. Question: Is there a limit to how many elements you can put inside a container? Is there a limit to how many containers you can put inside of one container? (Like 10 or some other number?)

  4. Thanks for the great videos! Is there a conflict using Elementor on a site built with Beaver Builder? GoDaddy built my new website with Beaver Builder but didn’t warn me about Elementor. I like Elementor and have used it on my blog posts. Can I carry this through to my pages?

  5. Interesting developments thanks for the video. I wonder what the page load is between the two, I will try it out. If this optimizing goes much further it will start to have a negative affect on optimizing plugins? Takes me back the the HMTL days I wonder if WordPress will ever get that quick. 😀

  6. Thank you Adam for a great video explaining it all and the reason for this change. Certainly looks like an ACE feature not only for design but to reduce wordpress bloat. However, my site is very content heavy – hundreds of pages full of content for doctors. I am so disappointed that I will now have to edited every section of my 300 pages of content that I have built over the last xx years manually. It is a shame they don't have a more effective and easy conversion tool – to try and covert everything it once. Image the pain of editing 5 sections manually one by one – each time it creates a duplicate, then reconfiguring and deleting the old. And then repeating this for 300 pages. I am sure there are lots of people like me who have content heavy websites. Is there no other solution? Exciting but also depressing at the same time for me. 😞 Makes me wanna cry.
