Mercedes has barely troubled Ferrari and Red Bull in Formula 1 this season but is now in conflict with them off-track in a BIG way.
The world champion team was at the heart of a huge argument over the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, after the FIA made an initial attempt to intervene in the dispute over the porpoising and bottoming out suffered by the 2022 cars.
Ferrari and Red Bull have pushed back against a last-minute and then quickly-postponed technical directive issued on the eve of the Montreal event, prompting Mercedes boss Toto Wolff to label the political games “pitiful”.
Suddenly, a topic that was only bubbling away in the background until recently, is now one of the most controversial stories of the season – and one that looks far from settled.

  1. Kinda wish them out of f1 or for them to get the renault treatement post Pique jr ,why is it that whenever merc is the talks its going toxic?best to get rid of them + oscar award winner for the baku "drama" and get f1 back to normal.

  2. Shouldn't teams be able to choose the car height (between safe parameters)? I'm not a F1 engineer, just a Computer Engineering student, but I can think team should be able to choosr if they want to reduce or increase their car's height

  3. Wolff is Princess Louise’s bitch now. They built a shite car and now they want the FIA to punish everyone else for their decisions. Mercedes speed of modifying their car shows they’ve got a back channel to the FIA. That whole team needs to sit the rest of this season out. They can’t even admit their #1 driver is Russell, who’s out-qualified, out-scored and out-raced the whiny high maintenance princess for all but one race this season.

  4. merc is standing theyr ground cause they know they can loose a lot. mclaren is strugglin this year partialy because they chose to raise the car and if merc would be told to do so aswell mclaren could magiaclly appear to be much quicker not to mention that this directive could affect not only merc but ferrari and others team too. so basically by opposing to the change ferrari and redbull try to prevent massive shuffle in the standings mid season

  5. yeah porpoising is the team's problem. FIA made the correct move to protect the drivers, not make it easier for the team who cant solve their own problems
