Andi Schmied pretended to be a billionaire to infiltrate NYC’s most exclusive and expensive homes, which only cater to the unbelievably wealthy and privileged.

Touring homes up to $85 million, she wanted to see and photograph how the 1% of the 1% lives in one of the most iconic and expensive cities in the world.

To do so, she had to transform herself from an artist into a convincing billionaire almost overnight. But while snapping 25 penthouses she discovered a world of high-rise apartments sitting empty in a city facing a housing crisis.

  2. Even if I had a billion dollars, I would buy a 4 bed room barn conservation with a granny flat for my mum. Why ppl need huge properties and extravagance is beyond me. I live in a 1 bed flat with my partner and my 4 year old. We are not in a position to get a bigger place. That said, just to have the bedrooms we need would be amazing. I guess we are all unique individuals who think differently. Money can't buy a person, health, happiness, or a good family. I guess you can't miss something you have never had. Ultimately I know what's important, I know the value of things, other than the price. X

  3. Entonces las inmobiliarias solo construyen edificios para librarlo vendiendo uno o dos apartamentos y el resto es para enriquecerse sin importarles que hacen imposible vivir donde colocan esos elefantes blancos.

  4. Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, I found this video to be amazing and hopefully eye opening for other New Yorkers.

Upon moving out of NYC, I've tried very to convice others of how terrible living in NYC actually is. The amount of scams and unethical practices of those governing the city is astounding. Terrible parking with a ludicrous and predatory tolling (EZ-Pass) and ticketing system, along with an overpriced cost of living, poor infrastructure and down right neglected surrounding properties (aperments). The big apple, as much as I loved it when I live there, seems nice to outsiders… but it is a financial death pit. Also, not a good place to raise children.

  5. I once dated a millionaire (not a billionaire), and I never will again. He & his peers' values were so skewed from reality, so far from my own. All they cared about was money. He was a middle eastern man who voted for Trump, KNOWING his own family was banned from coming into the country, but he did not care because he wanted a lower tax rate. He made me sick.

  6. You can get tired of anything.

I work at a very famous beach.
I no longer see the ocean, I don't smell it, I don't hear it, I don't care, anymore. It means nothing to me and the entire area is overrated.

Now imagine spending $70 million on a mansion on a Cliffside with a view of the ocean and it doesn't even matter because you're still empty.
