  1. What’s the deal with new inquires shopping around and you go out of your way to educate them and then hear nothing back. Not even a thank you. Am I wrong for offering insight ?

  2. I agree but you need to charge too dollar for your skill my average project is $2,500 to 3k because you are using your time and that is money. They can either rush things and have a shitty project or take time and spend the extra dollar. But I’m also someone who worked at Google for Software development but I can do more than average but still!!! Charge too dollar for small business I wouldn’t go below $2,000 no matter if your a beginner…… especially if your Malik g custom designs following all UI/UX product design principles. You charge high dollar $1,000 is wayyy to low for a beginner lol wtf

  3. I keep on coming back to this video for a refresher. and it feels good. I just hope Darell will get to read this comment. I wanted to know how I can price for reconstruction of a website. Like, they already have a running site, but they're not happy with it and wanted to have an upgrade. Can we consider that like creating a new website? even if i am only applying a new theme that works well with their plan in mind. the site is in wordpress btw.

  4. I have found combining hourly rate with project price gets good results. For example I estimate how many hours it will take then add 25% on top of that for project creep. I.e if I charge $50/hr and estimate it will take 10 hours (=$500), I tell the potential client that I will develop their website for $750 OR $50/hr, whichever is lower. I tell them I also give them a work log of the time it takes for all tasks, so they can see exactly how much time was spent. Often the project comes in under project, so they spend less than they were prepared to pay. Sometimes it takes longer, in which case they get more than they paid for. Either way the client is usually very happy.

  5. Thank you. This was really helpful.
I'm a bit confused about custom pricing though. Could you please explain what this means and how it differs from fixed pricing as I can't figure out what the difference is? 🤔
    Thanks

  6. who pays for the domain and web hosting the client or the designer? I don't have a domain yet, or is it included in the package? if I need to add something to my content will I be charged again? I'm planning on getting a website with an order form if it is possible for my online store, I'm selling cupcakes and pastries. I need some ideas. thanks!

  7. Two questions. Content. Is it typical for a client to have all of the info they want on the site written out and then you just add what they want, or should you know their business and develop the selling points for their visitors.

Second are graphics/photos. While there are stock images available on the Web (either free for commercial use or paid) I find that it's not personal to use stock images (and everyone goes to them); however, would you bring a camera take images for them or require the client to provide the photo content? Same question for graphics (including logo designs).

This has been area I've struggle with because all of that extra work adds a lot of additional costs. If you make them do that work they could respond "what the hell am I paying you for to do this job for us?" This is especially true for businesses that don't have a functional website (very outdated) or who want the world yet not pay a premium for that world.

Finally many do not trust the freelance Web developers (much like micro sized businesses (less than 10 employees)) because there is no big agency behind the name brand (like a Web dev company with 50+ employees and recognition). Additionally if you are one person doing all this work, to value yourself is near impossible because how do you value non tangible things?

  8. Hi Darrel! Thanks for all these awesome videos. I have questions about how you organize working for multiple clients after you build their websites? Do you have a video going over how to track, monitor, and maintenance a growing clientele? I know in another video you discussed an SEO platform that makes it super easy to add multiple websites and get reports. Do you have videos or is there any way to consolidate hosting, ESP, domains, and all the backend stuff under one easy hood? Or am I a dreamer?! Thanks.

  9. Please, if I want to add a customer review page to the website is their template page that can import from Astra, or do I need to install a plugin?
