  1. Out of all the examples I loved the Aesop Wines website the best. I love the fun shapes, large text, new fonts styles and moving elements! Minimalism has been in style for at least a decade and I am bored of it. I actually feel inspired to design again as I’ve taken a break from web design. I remember when I was first learning web design back in the day it was fun with learning how to create different effects. But then static design became the trend. I believe we are getting back to those days but have better technology. I agree that most of those sites were awful in that they were cluttered and just used bad design principles. But I think you can marry the new design trends with good design principles. Also, to your comment wine doesn’t have to be serious or pretentious. I love the new creative labels I see on wine. There is definitely a market for the new design style. We are in a more playful period so perhaps for people who are more serious it could be challenging.

One more thing – these trends definitely aren’t applicable to all industries like the plumber you mentioned. I believe they are great for lifestyle e-commerce brands which I mainly design for. Also, if you are trying to reach a younger customer base such as Gen Z or younger Millennials. I’m an older Millennial and am embracing the change

  2. hey – 35 y as a designer and art director – i have observed the decline of art and design for a while now — its the new world with people and businesses rejecting anything that belongs to the old world – the world of order and class and beauty — i mean people are supporting tomato soup getting thrown over the Van Goghs Sunflowers — i ve actually ended my work and interest in design and art because — this shit we have today is anti-culture anti-art anti-beauty — just look at ADOBE and shity tutorials they have on their site and kind of "ART" they are promoting …

This actually started many years ago – when businesses and marketers run by children entrepreneurs got their hands on and QUICK TEMPLATES — we live in a world that has become COPY PASTE TEMPLATE BASED … i mean just look at shitty tattoos people are getting, that ugly Memphis style of illustration and what is the shit people dress in — i used to be a punk rocker — that shit was crazy but nothing compared to idiocy of personal appearance and fashion today.

Good video – great topic – well done

  3. I like these videos on design but you should give links to the examples so we can see first hand. When it comes to design, it really comes down to the target audience. These examples you are giving here are for the younger and more artistic crowd. In some designs Clean ain't always good and in fact in some markets it would be down right boring.

  4. Dear Kaycinho

First I want to thank you for many good tuts here on the channel.

But this is the wildest hater video I've ever seen, and to me it sounds like you're becoming a grumpy old man who can no longer keep up with the times and the innovation the world brings.

Sorry dude but it doesn't suit you to spend 16 minutes of our time belittling other people's good work!

  5. Some of the new trends are going to far but if you take some of the elements within so of the designs and use them with in a clean design it can create a great talking point, some of these trends will only last a short time as we have seen before, it’s like fashion trends come a go. Let’s see what comes next

  6. Thanks for mentioning the topic, Kaycinho. There is always this dilemma in design, I think. On the one side there is design "for designers" – for their own amusement, challenge etc really – then there is the design for the "normal" clients, who mostly don't want/appreciate this experimental kind of approach but rather want to address their clients in a much more down to earth way – which does not mean that this cannot be asthetically pleasing/witty/ modern, not at all. I believe design doesn't have to "hurt" in an avantgarde kind of way, to be successful. Although that kind of thinking seems outdated in the designworld at the moment😅

  7. I agree 100% with you. Most of those sites will do poorly for SEO and conversions as most will click away as they can't easily find what they want. They aren't going to spend 2 mins to figure out how to navigate the site.

  8. yes you are not alone 😅 what more heart breaking this type of design sell in hundred and thousand to million where design with good ui ux , good color all that , client find boring and consider cheap design like fiverr gig. maybe they doing this to stand out even this look like alien, bad marketing is also one type of marketing if you know how to use in your favor
