With all the free stuff like yours on the net how long til the field is saturated? Now everyone can learn to program. Then the rate will be 500 a month. Just wondering John. Thanks.
Start Making Products, liked the idea. Thanks for the awesome video
Just wonderful, been searching for "jobs for creative writing graduates" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about – Jeyeyton Riyria Process – (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my partner got excellent success with it.
is it same thing as web designer or wed developer in this case? and how much do you charge your work to the client for a website?
You should change the title to how I made 750$/hour as a freelancer
Awesome advice! I'm totally new to this field but so excited to delve in. Subbed!
nice
Hey John, quick question!
I'm about to get back from the military and going to school for web design. There's two programs, one is an associates and one is a bachelor's. My goal is to work as a freelancer, and solely as a freelancer. When I looked at the study guides for the two degrees.. the associates degree is 90% job specific classes. Where the bachelors degree is about 50/50.
Do you think beings I want to go freelance/self employed route.. it's a smarter move to get the more degree specific class route with an associates vs bachelor's? Only real positive I see to getting a bachelor's is if I wanted to work a corporate job.
That's why you need to have freelancers to signed an NDA.
Otherwise they'll resell your shit to all your competition.
Blah blah blah
Hey buddy. Really good video and i know I'm a little late to the party. However, this is the sort of solution i see myself offering to clients. Such as when they sign up they get a landing page up to showcase they have a new website coming soon. Then a platform which i've already developed, with the companies branding. I was wondering whether you had any tips on how you went about selling it to small businesses and whether you have any suggestions on how to price to them?
Thanks!
So true, I find as creatives we obsess about things the end client doesn't really care about, like I will move shit around by 5 pixels, change from #f7f7f7 to #f2f2f2 ten times and waste valuable time, I just did my first "clone" project and it's great.
Hey, thanks a bunch for this. I've been making websites with associates for ages and they always wanted an hourly rate. Never felt right to me and made us struggle with money! The solution you described in this video was what I wanted to do a few years ago. Thanks for this, maybe I'll get back to freelancing now
+John Morris, I am starting to get spooked by some night-stalking entity, called "Wix"…it wants competition and it wants to get creepier….
Good stuff as always, John. Thanks.
holy shit, that clone idea is genius! Why didn't I think of that?
your css and js not loading on your website https://johnmorrisonline.com/hire/
Wix
Being a person that has some pretty screwy depression, and this being the main career that I've been looking into being a part of, this video was really, really inspirational. Thank-you for this, because I've just decided that I'm definitely going to pursue this career path.
Good Video!
I guess you have to try it to see if it works out or not. I started freelancing about 1 years ago. Here are my thoughts and tips.
• You have to be great at work you do, by great I mean better than at least 70% of the people in the industry or it'll be very hard to generate leads.
• Get at least 1 longer term contract work as a based, they may not pay very well, but as least you won't starve when you have low volume of work
• Keep charging more as you grow your client base. Referrals are key, ask for referrals often before you finish the work
• Don't get discouraged when your work volume is low. Instead use those time to market yourself, update your portfolio and reach out to previous clients for more work.
• When working on multiple projects, You'll grow your portfolio much faster than working full time for a company. A portfolio that has different types of work to show will make you more desirable to potential clients.
• There are people charging SO MUCH (1+ million dollar) for a website design. The market is not dead, you just need to know where to look. I'm not making this up, check out a youtube channel called The Futur.
I used to make 67k in my previous full time job, I quit and started full time freelancing. 1 year gone by and I'm making 2 times more than I used to. Not saying I'll be freelancing forever, but freelancing and making a living is totally possible.
You can see my work on dribbble /Caleblai. I can also make a video to share my experience if there are people interested in knowing more.
Super! http:www459design.co.uk
A bit of a thick question, but how did the other membership site clients know about https://platformuniversity.com/?
that was great 🙂 thanks
This video was worth watching. Learned some important things.
Thanks!
There are web designers who charge US$20.000 / U$50.000 for a web project.
I've gotten pretty good at cranking out and customizing bootstrap. I can pretty much create any layout or design I see without even looking at the code. I also create fast templates using external custom php functions I just include() and roll. I'm feeling like this might be a little too basic. CMS is all the rage but I really don't like them. I've tried both Drupal and Word Press and I just really like the feel of coding my own stuff more. I'm into PHP OOP now and feel stronger in my coding than ever before. Would you suggest I keep at what I'm doing or keep an open mind about a CMS?
