Compatibility issues I almost buy a Bose soundbar , good thing i read some reddit comments that is not compatible with LG TV. I ended up buying LG soundbar with my LG TV no issues so far

I bought an s90qy and after using for 5 days, I have to say: I thought you were exaggerating since some reviews give the Soundbar good marks, but no, this is 100% accurate. It is a dumpster fire. It feels like it should be capable and on ocassion it does feel great, but it has an extremely unbalanced sound profile, with bass that is too loud whenever there are big booms, but too quiet the rest of the time. Voices sound clear sure, but they feel like they are tiny and from a can in a wire that is really far away. It's absolutely awful. Returned and got a Samsung 930b. I could tell the difference within 5 seconds of testing it.

Hi, I bought this sound bar with the LG C2. In the UK LG is selling this combination with the sound bar for 50% off. Also a 5 year garuntee at John Lewis.
I was worried about your review, and tried to chance it with the belief I may end up exchanging the sound bar for something else later. Actually this combination has worked flawlessly. None of the connection issues or even the wifi issues some have mentioned. Centre channel is clear and not muffled at all. My room is 8mx7m.
Maybe the sound bar needs to be paired the LGs a9 processor to get the best out of it 🤷🏽‍♂️. Hope this helps someone out there…..

I know they are very different but value wise is this better than the sp9ya or sp8ya? My room is 17ms with 8ft high ceilings

It's very odd………they hated it. Given that price plays a part, different philosophies apply and it's a subjective area – even so it's unusual that any manufacturer comes up with a total dog. It occurs to me that it may somehow be a knock-off from some hyper-enterprising Far-East garage. Fragrances, shoes, musical instruments, thousand-dollar gizmos to turbo-charge your X-Box………………………..all these things have been "attacked" by branded knock offs. Dunno but……………….so far as I know, LG are a viable maker but if you have one of these and it misbehaves like that I think the retailer is the contact you need to make – along with maybe a letter to LG if you are generous with your time.

It was very painful to hear. I just finished paying this sound bar in best buy. I still love it. I was difficult setting up at first. But my box was not defective. Works like a charm, especially up firing speakers do justice in atmos. I wouldn't get the samsung Hw-q99ob yuck, yes more channels but worse miss in Interpreting sounds. I returned it first week.

this is the first soundbar/surround sound system i have ever bought. I also paired it with an LG G2 tv. My impressions so far are underwhelming. Played saving private ryan and was hoping to feel the action. The highs like bullet ricochets sounded great but the explosions just lacked punch. I was hoping to feel sone kind of rumble in my feet but nothing. Subwoofer on max setting yet very dissapointing. I also feel that the volume needs to be unreasonably loud to really enjoy the surround sound. These could be setting mistakes by me but it just seems to border on being loud without being great. My last gripe is about tv sound mode sharing. According to LG, the processor in my tv should optimize the sound of the soundbar as they are both LG and tv sound mode sharing compatible. This seems to be a very big oversell, as it really only increase the tv volume and reduces the surrounds volume. This is marketed to be like Samsungs Q-Symphony but from the reviews I've seen it is sadly nothing like Q-Symphony. I feel really mislead on this feature and because of that deception I will be returning the soundbar and going with the Q990B. I really love my G2 tv so I really dont know if I should return it and get a Samsung to enjoy the Q-Symphony or not. As for LG this G2 will probably be the last product I buy from them. Misleading advertising cannot be rewarded.

I've red tens of reviews about s95qr and İ bought it. I am absolutely satisfied with the sound quality. All you need to do is to make some adjustments with speaker levels. Have you tested your system with another brand of soundbar? I dont think your review is scientific and objective…

Wow interesting ! Watched reviews on 2 trusted sources (yours and PP World in France) and takeaway is quite different. Agreement on so-so performance on music listening and similar take on volume output (Samsung can achieve higher level), and front height effects below avg (middle top driver not a big deal as well). But otherwise, this LG performed well. Even PP’s binaural demo was quite convincing. Interesting. Key difference I can think of is test setting. Your house is very open concept and houses in the US are rather large so volume output and power reserve matter way more. PP tested it in a more typical European setting (traditional closed room, 200-300 sqft room). Could that be enough to explain such different outcome? Anyway, always good to compare different POV. Great video as usual otherwise! (Btw, bought the LG Eclair for my bedroom recently…you’re right, great little soundbar !)

Had a similar issue with The 5.1.2 unit everything was fine but the center channel distorted or made a really bad cracking sound..I learned my lesson to stick with soundbars made buy audio companies vs a company that's known for cell phones

That frequency response doesn't look that horrible to be fair on it's own and does not explain bad personal impressions, so looks like the soundbar indeed has issues with filling big spaces due to bad speaker layout or balance (both rear speakers are effectively sidefiring, which also might explain the echoing) and/or lack of raw power (which is also bad since they advertise this thing being more powerful than HW-Q990B for instance). LG should really take a step back and look at what Samsung is doing with their soundbars.

I have this bar and love it and based on reviews on Best Buy this bar has better reviews then the Samsung.

I bought LG SN8YG for my mum a couple of years ago – complete rubbish sound quality – so bought here the jbl bar 5.1 bar you recommended – cheaper and much much better.

Agree with this review 1000%. Just wish I'd seen it before I bought the sound bar! Fortunately I was able to return it to Best Buy and get a Sammy Q990B instead. What a difference!!!😮

the center speaker is for speech it has nothing to do with atmos, you need to get your facts straight

The center-high is an Auro3D thing, Atmos don't have this, I believe.

Seems to me the Samsung Q930b for $999 is a far better choice. Quite happy with ours. I looked at THE LG S95QR while at Best Buy but wasn't sold. I wish the Q930b would get more reviews. Everyone wants to talk about the much more expensive Q990b, but even rtings found the Q930b was pretty close to the Q990b for a fraction of the price. I think it's a leader in the $1k price category. Based on this review it's way better than the S95QR for again, a fraction of the price.

I flat out disagree with all your criticisms. I'm very happy with my LG95QR. The only complaint I have is that whenever I turn on the system, it keeps defaulting to the optical input instead of the HDMI1 port which means I gotta keep hitting the input button whenever I wanna watch TV. Minor annoyance that it doesn't remember the source last used.

I have this soundbar, the SP9YA, and the Eclair. I have no problems with mine, and sounds pretty darn good to me. I will say though that the Samsung HW-Q950A is the best I have.

Not very often do you rip apart a product, this on its own says ALOT about how bad it must be….

I have looked and read several reviews of this soundbar. You are the first to have exactly the same experience as I did. I even have an LG TV. Stereo music is also totally bad despite Meridian. One of the worst is the sorround mode. Really no idea what the other testers reviewed.

I had similar results with the Sony hta5000/ht-a7000. Muffled chesty sound.

Just to comment on the upward firing center channel with respect to atmos: atmos doesn’t define channels since it sends the 3D position. So the processor in the sound bar or receiver maps the 3D to the speaker configuration.

I purchased the LG SN10YG soundbar and rear surrounds a couple years ago. Absolute worse sound bar I've ever heard. Its worse than a budget soundbar I purchased on Black Friday almost 10 years ago (paid over $1200 for the LG). The center channel sound was absolutely terrible. Dialouge was completely inaudible at times and the speakers would periodically emit a loud popping noise. Don't get me started on the subwoofer that disconnected on a hourly basis and has no punch at all. Love LGs TVs but after my experience I completely agree that LG soundbars should be avoided at all costs.
