Why the Longhorns can cover
The Texas running game has a good matchup going up against the Oklahoma State run defense. Led by the multitalented Bijan Robinson and senior Roschon Johnson, the Longhorns are averaging 5.3 yards per carry over their last two games. Meanwhile the Cowboys are coming off their worst defensive performance against the run this season, giving up 224 yards and three touchdowns on the ground to TCU.
In addition, Texas has a playmaking linebacker in Jaylan Ford. A 6-foot-3 junior from Frisco, Texas, Ford leads the Big 12 with 66 total tackles, 37 solo tackles and 9.4 tackles per game. Last week against Iowa State, he had a key interception in the end zone and recovered a fumble late in the game to help close out the Longhorns’ victory.

Oklahoma State faces a Texas defense that has struggled this season against mobile quarterbacks. Alabama’s Bryce Young, UTSA’s Frank Harris, Texas Tech’s Donovan Smith and even Iowa State’s Hunter Dekkers all burned the Longhorns defense by either running for first downs or by buying time to throw.
