I have just started my web design company and the way I do it is by offering to make a website for free to make myself noticed out there, and so they can gain confidence that I can do my job. what I require in return is that I get a reference from them that I can use it on my website. I only create a maximum of 20 websites and then I will decide whether it is necessary to work a little more for free or whether I have actually got clients who want to pay for my work.
