It's sad that I had to spend 1 hour on someone's website explaining how to manually do this and I said screw that and came here. Sure glad I did cause in a couple of clicks I was done. Cheers! Oh…. I copied over the style CSS to the child so that I could edit everything in the child CSS without fear of over writing during main theme updates. I did however leave the CSS top of the page intact.

Thanks so much! I have one question, my website is fast finished, is it still ok to make a child theme now? When I active the child theme, can my design still alive? or will the website just come to the beginning view of the parent theme?

Any idea why my theme would not appear in the drop down menu ? It's called "trending blog" and apparently it is a child theme from galway lite. So I'm guessing we can't have grandchildren?

Ah, good thing I am a software engineer in another space…things make a bit of sense.
Turns out my theme was already a child of another, so I had to duplicate it.
The option to separate the Stylesheet also seems more appropriate as I need to make changes to the color, but don't want to overwrite the existing child theme color.
Let us see if I didn't screw the pooch here…
