I have been surely and steadily moving in the direction of changing my business model to a subscription web service. In fact, my accountant who is very saavy, recommended that I do so last spring. I am thinking of selecting a specific niche and going all in on it. I have my site development process down and I've developed an excellent starter theme. I really do above-average work and feel that I can make this happen.
Hi Steve. I'm freelancing, and I do not offer subscription services for web design/development as I'm affraid of dishonest and unreliable clients and complications like legal, stress etc. if things go south. How do you deal with that? Some legal or banking solutions to ensure full payment? Or do you host clients websites to keep them hostage? What if you spend 100 hours to design and launch a website and client disappears after short while, not caring about his website and without paying?
You got me on having a course. I have been contemplating about this business model for web development and ironically, I am witnessing it at my current job as a UI/UX Developer.
The family is in need of recurring revenue and the wife is wanting to be more involved in what I do with UI/UX, Design, and Development work.
