I played around this with for quite a while and I couldn’t see a work around. It is possible that newer themes that support WordPress 5.9’s menu creation process can’t make menus for Elementor. If you know a work around, please let us all know in the comments!

  1. Not only the navigation menu, with WordPress 5.9 full site editing you can now modify archive pages like tags and categories, 404 pages, search engine page, modify post template or page template, everything you did with Elementor Pro can now be done with WordPress 5.9.

When you install WooCommerce, also appear the templates of labels and categories of products and the product itself, you can also edit it as you want in WordPress 5.9 without using Elementor Pro.

Although there is still a lack of dynamic widgets for WooCommerce, I hope WordPress is working on it.

The interesting thing is that a template of a publication you can activate it in a group of publications and another template designed for another group of publications, the same happens with the template of pages, and a different one for the home page.

But there is something worse for Elementor Pro. This plugin has the option to be able to place widgets together, but in row, that is, you can place an icon and text in row on the right or left side or centered within the same column, you could place in row several elements together with Elementor without the need to create 2 or 3 columns and try together each column Elementor to look like a row, you avoided that problem because you could not get the elements in row using columns look correctly and Elementor solved that problem in its pro version without the need to create columns.

But now WordPress 5.9 has created the block called row, this block helps you to place the elements together in row, arrange them right side, left side, centered or also stretched from end to end elements or widgets.

I think now Elementor has lost a little bit of its share of power. Happily, I don't use Elementor because I know how to make very aesthetic sites just using Gutenberg and extensions, besides Gutenberg is lighter than Elementor and at SEO level is something that Google likes.

  2. I have a number of websites using Elementor and since the 5.9 WP update, we have suddenly now have menus not working, elements/widgets not displaying in front-end and the obligatory "Preview Could Not Be Loaded" BS in admin. We have rolled-back Elementor versions and it made no difference. Be warned as it just suddenly started happening and I swear we changed/updated nothing on any of them. 😠

  3. If you are not using the Blocks based theme, the editor turns back to the conventional appearance menu. I recently deployed a website built on WordPress 5.9 using HELLO theme paired with Elementor and menu option was there.

In theory, the new editor menu is only available for Blocks based themes only which re approximately 20 themes currently in the WordPress repository and every other legacy theme will not be effected if you are using ELEMENTOR

  4. I'm sure this is already on the Elementor team's radar so it will be addressed sooner or later for block-based themes. Personally, I've had no issues with WP 5.9 and Elementor. The rule of thumb, for the time being, is simply to not use block-based themes if you plan to use Elementor. Thanks for the heads up, Bjorn. Hope all is well on your end.
