With so many musicians working ‘in the box’ nowadays, having one of the best audio interfaces on your desktop is a no-brainer. Whether you’re recording demos for your band or doing full-fledged EDM productions, a great interface will be the central hub of your home setup for recording.

You can do a surprising amount with a dual-input interface when recording electric or acoustic instruments, as a couple of mics will handle most of these. If you’re looking to record drums then you’ll need a minimum of four inputs, but ideally eight if you really want to bump up the production quality. Solo musicians using soft synths and samples can get away with just a single input.
