UX can be a great job, until it becomes horrible. It’s definitely not for everyone and it’s not even about learning Figma, or the Design Thinking process. Is 2022 a good year to become a UX designer? Yes and No.
In this video we’re going to look at the reasons NOT to become a UX designer this year – and I’ll break down four of them for you – with the most important being last.
If you’re a junior UX designer and you want to learn and grow, make sure you’re ready for everything that this job entails.

I really didnt like the google course, feels very bare bone with zero support and costs $40 a month. I'd be wiling to pay more for a better program with mentor and constant feedback.
Hmm Iβve heard that itβs not good to overload your portfolio, sounds that 4 max seems to be the magic number.
Lol… so don't go into ux cuz it's hard work and you can't slide through it and only meant to bring in more business. Got it. I'm out!
What is a case study?
Thnak you for this insite, this has helped me to understand that the road ahead is a bit long than expected
Yep. Your soul should be corrupted already… If you're a designer, u already know.

Great insight! My daughter is interested in web design…. How do you avoid evil companies?
wow, this was surprisingly refreshing! thank you very much! π
All professions have their ups and downs. Although it is good to weigh the pros and cons, I believe a career is only as good/bad as you make it. So instead of finding reasons why you shouldn't become a UX designer, you should seek why UX is worth the challenges and how it can benefit you as a designer.
Can you provide ideas of UX application in healthcare? Exploring a career change or to enhance what I do. I am in healthcare management at master level with 6+ years of experience. Thanks!
Honestly, the last line I really appreciated it lol
A company rejected me in a UX interview because I said, "it's all about money." The person on the other side took it negatively.
I just started the Google UX Course. You mentioned about doing daily UI challenges. How do I execute that challenge? ππ½
Yep, not doing it. Fuck people greed.
From someone who has been in UX for a long time, trained designers and run a consultancy; my opinion is that:
UX has no future for anyone over 40. Agism in rampant for even the best candidates.
The field has been saturated with "certificate" candidates. It's very much like being a QA engineer or IT person back in the early 2000s.
There's no real accreditation, apprenticeship or clear industry licensing or certification.
The pay is rarely commensurate with the skill level of the candidates, and it's rapidly declining as companies realize supply and demand.
Many jobs are in areas that are massively boring. Web back end UI, service UX.
A large number of graphic, motion and industrial designers gave up those fields for UX because of the money. The knowledge of systems, human factors principles are missing, and are very hard to learn without going back to college.
In short: the field and pay will normalize, the pay will decrease as it has for other design fields and the work itself will be unsatisfactory to put up with employer expectations… much like ID and graphic design.
Cynicism masquerades as wisdom.
Almost pure "work from home", usually 5-6 hours work per day, rare meetings & distractions, and 80-120K a year in Switzerland (ok, pay is a bit higher on average).
I'm absolutely not a UX Researcher, but I interviewed one the other day who seemed to adore his life and job. If interested, you can check out all the amazing benefits he lists below:

As someone with learning challenges, how do you find a mentor?
Why not be simple everyone seems to over due it . With looks . I was in class taking a UX class my classmates were overdoing making it flashing and Iβm here making it simple and you know what the teacher preferred mine becuase it was readable
Smaller is better!
You killed my dreams…
UX Engineer is the future
