  1. I have used lots of the page builders out there like elementor, divi, thrive, but brizy is the easiest by far it's not without it's little quarks but still the best page builder in my opinion. and it's not slow to use like elementor and others.

  2. What kind of 'Webinar Software' are you using to broadcast and replay your webinars? I like the feature of inserting visitor comments while you are talking. I absolutely like your channel and your content. Best, Bernhard

  3. Adam – I've just discovered your channel and have learned a great deal – Astra, Gutenberg and so on. I am helping an actress-redesigning her website. After watching this video, I'm about to scrap all I've done including replacing the Astra theme but that's another story. You are right – sometimes complexity gets in the way of productivity especially if learning a new page builder, a new theme and trying to choose from a ton of plug-ins to do exactly what you want. It is frustrating at best. Disappointing at worst. My God I currently have gone though 7 different video / image plugins just to find one that 1- is easy to use 2-does what I want 3-yes indeed is free. I'm so bogged down at this point decision wise. And I am a retired software engineer how on earth do non-technical people get through this technical maze – I don't know. Okay thanks for all of your ideas, experience and recommendations. Back to my focus – do one thing, finish it and move on to the next. Redo later.
    Take care,
    Terrie

  4. WordPress Gutenberg has been around for a minute. I should pick up that skill, especially already having an understanding of WordPress for making sites that people would want. I focus on making custom designs anyway. So this a plus and GAME CHANGER if they make those updates their suppose too. THANKS, I going to LEARN Gutenberg TODAY!

  5. The Way you described your papa, Was Me. I've had My main site Parked For so long. So I got a Addon website. For more concept art.
sketches & hobby type content. Was watching videos on elementor.

It's just all over the place for me. Plus the price for just some theme features unlocks was displeasing.
I could use that cash for supplies. All I want Was a more blog style site, Sorta Like we had in the old tumblr days.
The concept artist Tumblr themes, So pretty and some so minimal. Making the content the Main focus.
Not enough videos on just Blogs Style websites for that. I'm really digging Gutenberg.

  6. This was a nice livestream Adam, even though I only caught the recording … I really enjoyed it. I too am becoming a big fan of Kadence and though I don't think I need to pay for the membership, I will just do so to support the dev team.

Question … and it maybe a bit loaded, but I have been taking a serious look at Webflow and some other similar "No Code" wysisyg website builders and am torn … they're pretty slick and have leapt ahead WP's native capabilities. I have also been seeing more former WP designers who have switched to Webflow saying they'll never go back. But 2 hesitations I have with these platforms are:

    1. Not a huge fan of relying on a close platform that you continually have to pay into to use. It's why I've stayed away from Shopify and the like. However, the business model has to be compelling for those that create these platforms. Just this year, Shopify's stock sky rocketed from ~$100 to > $700, and Webflow, Bubble and many others are securing fairly substantial rounds of funding.

    2. The WP community is large, and seems to be moving even faster to play catch up. So, WP may be behind now, but I don't know/think that may last for long. Though, the WP landscape may change somehow … especially when you look at competitor stock prices and funding.

Anyway, it's a deep topic, and possibly one for a future episode, but what are your thoughts on WP's position, where it's heading, and who (what type of project) is it correct for in this ever expanding, quickly changing environment?

  7. Hi Adam, I love your YouTube vids and have learnt so much from your recommendations. But, (:-)) having adopted the Astra/Elementor Pro combo for building websites which you (and others) endorsed, I'm now confused with your recommendation of Kadence/Gutenberg as the future alternative. I'm also unsure what's in it for you? Whatever affliiate earnings, if any, you have received from Brainforce and/or Elementor you have absolutely rightly deserved – you've helped put them on the WordPress map by introducing them to many 1000s of web builders – and they are a great combo – but with Kadence and Gutenberg – where's this going? How does Kadence and its free Gutenberg blocks stack up against Astra/Elementor in terms of page speed? Having got to grips with Elementor through your excellent tutorials, I feel I now have to learn how to use Gutenberg properly 🙂 (I know, it's my choice). My final comment is that is it possible, probable, that Gutenberg will start adding more bells and whistles just like Elementor, and so the benefit of returning to a back to basics tool will be lost, eventually? I totally agree we only use a small percentage of the capability of most tools we have, but are you possibly signalling the demise of page builders in 2021? Absolutely no criticism meant here, just questions. Again thank you for everything you've brought us (and I love the blinds, and especially the blue skies view behind them – so rare here in the UK!).

  8. The whole video was great. That rug is NOT girly, that's geometrical, like math! And roller blinds aren't girly either. Not unless you decorate your remote with pink sparkles. Neat and minimalist is very nice. Very. Got to go, I made lots of notes for a new site. Thanks, Adam!

  9. Adam, thank you so much for this video. I am just starting blogging (total newbie to this whole blogging / building a blog thing) and I had decided on using Astra / Elementor and was wondering whether I should buy the pro version of either of those for more functionality and customization, but then watched your recent videos where you recommend Kadence and now Gutenberg on this video. I agree with you 100% that we don't need something so complicated, especially for someone like me who just wants a blog. But I do like to think ahead and plan for anything that I might need to add on later, and it looks like Kadence has just about everything I would need. One quick question – in one of your earlier videos, you recommended adding the Envato Elements plug-in. Would I still need that or would Kadence theme and Kadence blocks have most of what is offered by Envato Elements? Thank you for all your videos. You deliver so much value, and you're a gem.

  10. Adam, thank you so much for this video. 11. I wanted to see how the speed of Kadence stacks up against the top Woocommerce themes. I used a previous article from WP Rocket for a baseline and test rules. Here's how Kadence stacks up…

    https://wp-rocket.me/blog/fastest-woocommerce-wordpress-themes/

Theme / Page Load / Size / Requests

    GeneratePress 1.450 s 280 KB 46

    Astra 1.522 s 296 KB 45

    Shoptimizer 1.710 s 402 KB 56

    WoondrShop 1.833 s 437 KB 50

    Kadence 1.873 s 300 KB 44

    OceanWP 1.956 s 457 KB 59

    Storefront 1.961 s 416 KB 56

    Divi 1.961 s 571 KB 53

It should be noted that WP Rocket tested the themes with ONLY Woocommerce installed and no other plugins. I.E. Elementor would not be loading its assets in the tests.

  12. Thansk for the video , been wondering the same about gutenberg and these builders , Currently with divi and will be migrating to Oxygen while learning how to build my own blocks.

  13. Hi Adam… this was an excellent session. I really learned a lot about Gutenberg, now that I have become proficient at Elementor, LOL! I’d like to do a live streaming session with my audience as well so I can teach them things. Mine are seniors in dire need of tech lessons. Question…. what software or app do you use for switching back and forth from your camera to your screen, etc. during the live stream? And, do you have a tutorial on it or can you recommend one?

  14. The live stream is growing during the pandemic.
    Check out some data:
In 2019, internet users watch 1.1 billion hours of live video.
The video streaming market is projected to hit 184.3 billion by 2027.
In 2018, 47% of live streaming video viewers worldwide are streaming more live video compared with the year before.
Also in 2018, 44% of live video viewers said they watch less live TV "as a result of live streaming."
67% of consumers were streaming live video worldwide by the end of 2018.
By the end of 2020, live streaming is expected to account for 82% of all internet traffic.
Are you going to jump with live streaming?

  15. Glad you did this review of gutenberg. I have been thinking the same recently. Especially after I looked at the gutengerg addons. Some elements say contents table are similiar to paid elements of elementor

  16. Hi Adam, I consider myself a pretty tech-savvy person, and I only make websites for myself at the moment. I started with Divi as a page builder then went to Elementor and preferred it to Divi. However, I am finding Elementor frustrates the heck outta me more and more. Not sure what it is, but it seems to be difficult to get a reasonable looking site up and running quickly. My sites only need to be simple and I feel the complexity of Elementor is reducing my productivity. So, thanks for this interesting and timely post! Regards, David
